Prabowo Subianto's Palm Oil Plantation Policy from the Perspective of Siyasah Syar'iyyah and Quranic Leadership Ethics
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research examines Prabowo Subianto's palm oil plantation policies through the lenses of Siyasah Syar'iyyah and Quranic leadership ethics. The palm oil sector is a cornerstone of Indonesia's economy, yet it faces persistent challenges regarding social justice and environmental sustainability. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a normative-theological approach, this study evaluates whether these policies align with Islamic governance principles, particularly maslahah ammah (public interest). The findings indicate that the emphasis on national downstreaming and smallholder empowerment reflects the Quranic mandate for equitable wealth distribution and responsible stewardship (khalifah). However, the implementation must rigorously ensure environmental preservation to avoid fasad (mischief) on earth. This research concludes that integrating Islamic ethical frameworks into plantation management is essential for achieving holistic prosperity. Consequently, Prabowo’s administration should prioritize transparency and ecological balance to fulfill the ethical requirements of prophetic leadership, ensuring that economic growth does not compromise long-term social and environmental integrity.
